Invalidations

Wuḍū’ is nullified by any one of the following things:
- Filth (najāsa) or air that exits from the private parts
- Filth that flows from any part of the outer body, such as blood or pus
- Vomiting a mouthful or more
- Sleeping while lying down, reclining, or on one’s side
- Loss of consciousness
- Insanity (loss of intellect)
- Drunkenness
- Laughing out loud while performing the prayer (ṣalāḥ)
- Intimate contact between a man and a woman, such that the private parts touch directly
