Keep a private act of worship

Private worship trains sincerity because its audience is Allah alone. Keep a small deed that is not performed for public recognition: prayer, charity, recitation, remembrance or service whose details need not be announced. Public and communal obligations still have their place.

Be alert to the desire to mention a hidden deed casually in order to be admired. Also guard against ʿujb: becoming impressed with your own devotion. A private act can still feed pride if it leads you to compare yourself favorably with others.

Choose a consistent hidden deed, thank Allah for enabling it, and ask Him to accept it. Let it make you more humble and merciful rather than more eager for praise.
