Finding focus in prayer
Khushu‘ is humble attentiveness before Allah. Understanding the words, moving without rushing, and giving each posture time can help you become more present.
- Remove avoidable distractions before beginning.
- Know the meaning of one passage you will recite.
- Pause in bowing, standing, prostration, and sitting.
- When attention wanders, bring it back to the next words and movement.
Do not measure every prayer against a perfect emotional experience. A steady practice can include days when concentration is difficult.
