TAHAJJUD
Witr and the end of the night
Witr is wajib in the Hanafi school and an emphasized sunnah in the other three schools. Its form, number of units and Qunut practice vary. Use the Witr walkthrough in the Prayer Studio for your selected school rather than imposing one pattern on everyone.
When confident you can wake, Witr can be left until the end of night prayer. If concerned you will not wake, pray Witr before sleep. If you already prayed Witr and later wake for more voluntary prayer, do not offer a second Witr that night.
Reports of the Prophet’s ﷺ night prayer include eleven or thirteen units with Witr, but these examples should not be presented as a compulsory total for everyone. The recitation of al-Aʿla, al-Kafirun and al-Ikhlas in a three-unit Witr is an established example, with the method governed by your school.
Choose one achievable change for your next night. Preserve the obligations and build consistency gradually.
