Opening supplication

An established opening may approach Allah through praise, repentance or both. The familiar Subhanaka Allahumma opening declares His freedom from defect, praises Him, affirms the blessedness of His name, acknowledges His exalted majesty and declares that He alone deserves worship.

Another opening asks for distance from sins as wide as east from west, purification like a white garment cleansed of dirt, and washing with water, snow and hail. Longer openings affirm devotion, trust, repentance and need for guidance. Learn the wording and practice appropriate to your school.
