Blessings and closing supplication

Sending salawat asks Allah to honor and bless Muhammad ﷺ and his family, as He honored and blessed Ibrahim and his family. Barakah conveys continuing and increasing good. This expresses love, gratitude and reverence for the Messenger and obedience to Allah.

The sequence of praise, blessings and then personal supplication teaches the etiquette of asking. Before salam, established requests include forgiveness, protection from Hell and the grave, the trials of life and death and the Dajjal, and help to remember, thank and worship Allah well.

Ask sincerely and include parents and believers. Use transmitted wording or other permitted supplication according to your school. Meaningful asking does not require inventing a new ritual or overlooking the conditions of prayer.
